What is the fastest way to find a job?
In the meantime read the following:
The fastest way may assume a lack of focus on a specific job industry, therefore make sure you have a solid CV that has a summary of your personal profile at the top, information such as name and contact information, and sections highlighting your full work experience. If this is a particular niche, you may want to create a section that says “Relevant work experience”. You may also want to add a “Key skills” section highlighting four key skills that you think are unique to you.
You need to also have a cover letter template that you can adapt at will when applying for jobs. I would check the internet for cover letter template structure with regards to this, such as the reed website. Type in Reed cover letters. Mainly the focus should be on:
- Why you want the job and how you think you are a suitable candidate
- Your experience relevant to the role including roles and responsibilities and lessons learnt
- Evidence of your knowledge base, education and understanding
- Additional experience where you have developed transferable skills
- A conclusion
Sign up to as many recruiting agencies as possible and be clear as to what you want i.e. administration, admin support, project support officer roles, project management, events management etc. Develop a script so that you can confidently speak on the phone and iterate wjen necessary. Call them weekly to get an update.
Some recruiting agencies will even help you with your CV, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
Look for retail work in shopping centres, talk to the manager and confirm how you can apply for roles.
Check your local newspapers and local communal areas, like shops and faith centres. There is a lot of advertising that goes on.
Check LinkedIn! Develop a strong LinkedIn profile – complete every section fully. You can look at my LinkedIn profile as an example, it isn’t perfect but it has worked like a charm for me.
Remember also to develop continuously as a leader by reading books on self-development, volunteering and being part of clubs, groups and societies, and adding courses and qualifications to your barrel. I’ve found with office and corporate roles the ability to:
- Be great at data analyst and interpreter i.e. excel and additional software is extremely useful
- Very good basic admin and project management skills is always welcomed
- Fantastic communication and emotional intelligence skills with get you most places
- Being a great solution finder makes you a commodity
As a millennial I have been through it and have come out the other side, I hope this helps!
